A shaky first few innings for the Hawks lead to an easy 8-1 victory for the Green Isle Irish. Mike Mueller got the start and struggled with control early issuing four hit batters in the first three innings. That, along with two errors and seven Irish hits sealed the Hawks fate early. After the third, the game settled in with the Hawks getting base runners every inning, but not able to string anything together. They end up leaving 12 men on base. Notable for the Hawks was Clint Aretz with 2 hits and some nice glove work at first base. Mike Mueller, who after the tough start, found a groove and only gave up one more the rest of the way. Game 2 is Friday night in Hamburg.
